Okay. The comments here have gotten way out of hand. I don't know where some of the commenters here come from, but they seem to be here only to post stupid diatribes about pro-lifers, and refuse to engage in actual debate.
I started to realize how bad things were when I noticed that I there hadn't been any interesting threads here in a while, and how superior the commenters at The Next Right were when I crosspost there. And when an offline friend who reads my blog mentioned the stupidity of many commenters, well, that was another indication.
So I'll have to start moderating comments--your comment won't be approved till I see it. I wish I didn't have to do that--it's hard enough finding time to blog, without having to bother about comments too--but it seems necessary.

It is unfortunate, but understandable. Now more than ever we need an educated debate on the issues that will (hopefully) reform the republican party.

Call me crazy if you will, but I just don't think that qualifies as good blogging.
Sorry, but It's like waiting for YOUR approval.. I have a blog as well and I would never screen, edit or delete a comment.
But there is one thing that I will not do is sit here and argue with you over whether your comment really broke the rules or not. I consider deleted postings to be like balls and strike calls in baseball--the game would last forever if players were allowed to argue over them, so they aren't. If you disagree with the call, you live with it. I'ts as simple as that.
It is my humble view that it is the fun and interest in allowing others to say what they want to...It bears the greatest weight of responsibility for some of the posting or venting if you will, which can find its way to this blog at times.
Your moderation policy will ruin the flow of the debate or conversation.
What ruins the flow of debate is the snide commentary that have nothing to do with the original post. Now there is a difference between bantering and bitching, and I think there was too much of the latter going on, so I don't blame Daniel for wanting to disgard those sort of comments. It is his blog and there is nothing wrong with someone setting rules for their own blog.

The only time I really exercised my right to delete big-time was when some posters at the Hannity forums discovered I had started a blog way back when about them and it became a place to hang out, a kind of cybercafe. Now I allowed cussing and all sorts of comments if it was germane to the thread but a pdmike ruined the whole thing late in the day by wondering as a liberal male if something tasted like chicken. So instead of checking in everyday to delete any new posts which would have been too much work I just got rid of the whole thing or else Larry Flynt would have had to take over. Otherwise I really don't care, it's too much trouble to moderate and filter and post people's comments the next day. In my mind a blog is the freest art form going but every blogger is free to do what they want as they deem fit. It is what it is.
I have nothing original to say here. I simply agree with the opinions of the PRO-CHOICE'S on abortion.
And I disagree with your reasoning to moderate comments.

I have nothing to say here except to get back to my pet peeve that the majority of people who call themselves "pro-choice" are actually in favor of abortion but deny this to the ends. Then when you say this they object and go "oh no we're not for abortion, who is after all? on what planet?" and so you counter with "well are you against abortion then at least on a personal level?" and they don't get back to you on that just don't call them pro-abortion is all, it's CHOICE dude. This is why I get so irritated in these type discussions, you want to pin them down but they're like mercury bouncing around on the floor after you break a thermometer, you can't get 'em back again.

I usually avoid the abortion topic in blogs as I don’t think a blog is the place for serious debate on this but I’m going to today.
Roe V. Wade was a Supreme Court decision upholding a woman's right to choose, and maintain control over her body. It is one of the most controversial decisions in Supreme Court history.
The majority of women who get abortions do it because they don't feel ready for a child. They're generally poor and uneducated, living in the bad part of town. They may be drug-users or alcoholics who fear their own destructive behavior would hurt their newborn. Or perhaps they simply don't want the child.
Now, let's say abortion is outlawed. These women who would be most likely to get abortions must now have their babies. These babies will now grow up in poor environments. They may be unwanted, or they may have an alcoholic or crackhead for a mother. Numerous studies have shown that kids growing up in situations like this are most likely to either follow in their parent's footsteps (become poor, uneducated, teenage mothers) or turn to a life of crime. In short, their lives really aren't going to be very good at all. This is not to say that some won't rise above that kind of life, but unfortunately, those kids are among the minority.
So, I am pro-choice because I believe that the right to control your own reproduction is a fundamental right, and is protected both under our Constitution and basic human rights ideals — and I believe that fundamental right includes the right to prevent pregnancy, the right to get pregnant, the right to carry a pregnancy to term, and the right to terminate a pregnancy. I am pro-choice because I believe that if we outlaw a woman’s right to terminate a pregnancy, there is no legal argument against forcing a woman to terminate a pregnancy, or disallowing certain people from reproducing. I do not believe that anyone should be subject totalitarian laws which impose unwanted occupations on certain classes of people. I don’t believe that women should be legally compelled to maintain another life at the expense of her own wishes, her body, her health, or even her life. I don’t believe that women’s bodies should be used against our will.
I’ve watched a woman giving birth, and who the hell am I, as a guy, to tell any woman she has to go through that when she doesn’t want to?
And pro-lifers causes young women to abandon babies in dumpsters.
As of right now, abortion is legal ..We live in a nation of laws and not a nation of old men sitting behind a desk in a court telling women what to do and what not to do. . If you and others who disagree with this fact, Then I would suggest it be incumbent on your part to band together and start your own country somewhere else on the planet.
Once upon a time slavery was legal, the fact that something is legal does not make it right and it does not make it moral. I don't have to start a new nation, I can work within my rights of free speech and whatever is within the law to convince others to change the laws as we may see fit.
